Project Coordinator

Job Title: Project Coordinator

Location: Oxfordshire

Salary: starting at £32,000

Ecology by Design is currently looking to recruit a Project Coordinator to join our team.

Ecology by Design was setup in January 2015 and we have had consistent growth ever since. We strive to employ the best and brightest and reward hard work and dedication. We provide ecology consultancy services to a wide range of clients. We pride ourselves in technical excellence and providing an innovative, pragmatic, client friendly service. This is demonstrated by being nominated for the 2021 CIEEM best small consultancy. Due to our success, we have an excellent opportunity for a project coordinator to join our team.

‘Project coordinator’ (PC) is a new role in our business, one which we have identified a need for as a result of our business model. We take on interns and seasonal ecologists and train them up to be consultants. This can be a steep learning curve with lots of ecological skills and consultancy skills to learn. To support them the PC can provide a really important role between the ecologist and clients, communicating effectively and in a timely manner enabling the ecologist to initially focus on their ecology skills. Over time they can learn the consultancy skills in a supportive environment. The PC will be project manager and the more junior ecologist will be the assistant project manager. The assistant will conduct the surveys and report back to the PC about survey findings. They will discuss recommendations together and the PC will then be point of contact for liaison with the client, keeping the assistant cc’d in on correspondence and attending meetings etc so they can learn the art of effective communication.

The PC will be a 9-5 role which will not require any fieldwork but will require work from the office as effective liaison with the team will be crucial.

As the PC role is new, there will be an opportunity to shape it! We anticipate the job will entail:

  • Project management (liaison with resource coordinator about survey schedule)

  • Liaison with assistant project managers

  • Liaison with clients

  • Production and review of quotes

  • Production and review of reports (the latter if a full member of CIEEM)

The PC position would be perfect for someone of a Senior Ecologist level wanting to step away from fieldwork and sit behind a nice comfy desk, getting wonderfully passionate ecologists to do the dirty work for them!
